UMKC has impacted my life by helping me Impact others lives as an Educator over (36) years. I first became involved as a student after graduating from High school. My mindset shifted as a senior to attend college since neither of my parents graduated from High school. How painful this was as a young teenager. Although, my parents were my biggest cheerleaders which changed my heart as I observed their effort in supporting me in college. They continued to encourage me as well as my (5) siblings to finish high school, receive a diploma and further our education. I was the first generation to graduate out of my family which impacted my two daughters and nieces to attend college. It was important for me to accomplish this dream and to finish college to change lives in my family. There were many opportunities for me to quit, but I kept going. Success is promised after you work hard. My hope for UMKC students is to continue to make a difference in their families, as well as their communities. It is important to follow your dreams, because your dreams strengthens others in your family. Your story is important. Continue your journey by not giving up which impacts the generations behind you. I hope UMKC continues to accept the diversity of cultures because you never know the story behind each culture lifestyle. Everyone matters, Everyone has a right to learn and become a better person to impact lives and generations.

Each student carries valuable jewels which are hidden or stored inside their creative minds. It was important as an educator to build relationships with each individual to find the jewels they carried so greatly.
